Oh, You're Reading Again Book Club

Join us for our in-person and virtual book club meetup! Our February book club pick is “Against The Loveless World” by Susan Abulhawa, a historical fiction book following a Palestinian refugee as she slowly becomes radicalized while searching for a better life for her family throughout the Middle East. We will provide guided questions and split folks up into groups so you have a chance to meet other readers.

We are thrilled to partner with local nonprofit ourBRIDGE for Kids this month to help raise funds for their mission in creating community for newly-arrived refugee and immigrant families. We’ll meet at their offices (3925 Willard Farrow Drive) for an evening of reading, snacking and volunteering. Silent Book Club

Come by and join us for our Silent Book Club, where you get the opportunity to quietly read with other Charlotte book worms. Arrive between 6-6:30 to claim your spot, grab food and drinks from nearby restaurants and chat with other folks. From 6:30-7:30 p.m. we silently read our own books! At 7:30 p.m. we will reopen the shop for anyone who would like to browse. No RSVP is necessary - just show up to join in on the fun!

Writing Club

Join us for our writing sprints! Writing begins at 5:30 p.m. sharp and we use the pomodoro method to keep us focused. This means we write for 25 minutes, take a 5 minute break and then write for another 25 minutes. At 6:30 there's an optional half hour during which you can have others critique your writing, get feedback or just chat with other Charlotteans about writing, reading and more. Space is limited so please RSVP to reserve your spot - and remember to cancel your spot if you can’t come.

Silent Book Club

With Silent Book Club, you show up with whatever book you're currently reading, and you sit and read it. It's that simple. From 9:30-10 folks arrive, get food and drinks and chat with each other. Then from 10-11 a.m. we read. Then at 11 a.m. we open our shop for the day! Please note: we strongly recommend bringing a chair or blanket to sit on! Seating goes quick!

The story follows two Chinese-American sisters, one who is older and responsible and the other, who is headstrong and unpredictable. When the younger sister begins to hear voices and display symptoms of mental illness, the other feels the need to protect her while also letting her sister live an unconstrained life.

Midnight Book Release: Can't Get Enough by Kennedy Ryan

Join us for a midnight release party for Kennedy Ryan's third book in her Skyland series, "Can't Get Enough!"
Doors open at 8 p.m. Trivia on the first two books starts at 9 p.m. Throughout the evening you can get permanent jewelry done by a local artist, get a flash tattoo by local artist Tia Wilson, enjoy a pole dancing demonstration by local pole dancer Sky Luna, and make potpourri, friendship bracelets or bookmarks based on the series so far. We will also have a recipe swap station and blank recipe cards you can decorate.
